The Elbert County Detention Center is a full function Detention Center that provides housing for Elbert County inmates, City of Elberton Police Department inmates as well as other counties in the area. The Jail is under the supervision of Jail Administrator Major Mike Thompson. The Detention Center averages booking in 8 inmates a day with an overall yearly booking ratio of 3000. There are a total of 117 beds in our Detention Center. The Elbert County Detention Center also functions as the Civil Division and Warrant Services. On average, over 3000 warrants are processed yearly through the Detention Center. Hundreds of civil papers are served and thousands of dollars are collected yearly through the operation of the Detention Center. Most all services that are provided to the courts is handled through the Detention Center as well as transportation of inmates which averages around 450 to 500 a year.
